For those who prefer a greater degree of independence, the Garden House at Broughton House is an excellent alternative to traditional B and B. Situated adjacent to Broughton House, and with a beautiful south facing view over the garden, the Garden House features a double bedroom, a shower room with an enormous, walk-in shower, and a well equipped sitting room/kitchen. There is a small sun room, with a dining table, facing up the valley, and – at the front - a slated verandah, overlooking the garden – perfect for sitting out and enjoying long, summer afternoons.
Although the Garden House is self-catering, all the usual treats will be waiting for you: home–made shortbread, chocolate brownies, fresh fruit, and, in addition, a bottle of milk and some home-laid eggs from the hens you can see from the verandah
The Garden House costs £70 a night, for two sharing, but – if you would like to extend your stay to a week – the price is reduced to £400 for seven nights
Whilst I love working with airbnb, one thing to bear in mind is that their commission rates are obtained by adding an additional charge to the rates quoted on the Broughton House website - it will say something like Service Charge - so you will pay about 10% more if you book through their website.
